For security reasons I will not disclose my full identity. I will say, though, that I play an instrument of percussive nature in Samuel Caldwell's Revenge. Also, my initials are R.G. - but those letters could represent an assortment of common words. For example, R.G. could mean: right gear, red goober, run gobbler, rattle garnish, render gaydar, really great, random giddy, restrain Gandalf. The list could go on forever, so don't even try to guess who I really am.

Now that formalities are over, I want to congratulate the band for its fortitude throughout the recording of this recording. You see, fortitude runs through Samuel Caldwell's Revenge like gravy runs through turkey veins on Thanksgiving Day. That's right, we are like determined turkeys that embrace the gravy.

Band Trivia---> After getting to know the real men in Sammy C, I pushed for sub-alternate names in case ours was stolen, or lost. These names were based on basting turkeys: Embrace the Gravy, The Determined Turkeys, We Love Turkey and So Should You, The Basters, The Embracers, and Gravy's Revenge.

I'm sure by now you realize how innovative we are. Well, my friend, you ain't seen nothin' yet - as the saying goes. But on a real note: The cover art is super duper radical and I fully endorse its use for our album. Just think of the incredible fist-like activities you could embark upon if you had an enormous fist hanging over a disorganized city. Great job on the cover art singer of Samuel Caldwell's Revenge (For security reasons, no names will be named).

The Aftermath

Hello All,
The police were AMAZING. I had just recently really gotten ito them
so I knew almost all the songs they played. No major progress the last two days
as far a the record is concerned. I worked a little on the redesign for our myspace.
Also courted ODM's brother to assist with artwork for the cd. We should be making a little more progress today!! SHWEEET

Probobly won't get much done today, but we were very productive last night at practice. We should have a some videos up soon. We recorded practice both audio and video. Hopefully we should have somthing up in the next weeks or so. no promises

Shhh... I'm posting from work!

Hi,All
Small update here. I noticed that ODM did not post yesterday :(
Oh well, As you can see I'm trying very hard to make sure I stick to the min of at least one post a day. I talked with our guitarists (mike&will) They liked the idea of the blog. I think Will will be posting as well. It's a good possibility that we may be able to feature posts from everyone in the band! Super-Shweeet! They will probably post a lot a first then taper off as their initial interest wains. I will stay diligent though! Tonight we have practice,It will be the first time everyone in the band will have the chance to listen to all the work I did last week. I hope everyone likes the stuff I did.(I'm pretty sure they will). we play with Whole Wheat Bread next weekend!! If you have not heard of them, take the time to check them out!! Opps gotta get back to work!!

That just leaves our drummer (Ricardo) to approve for it to be unanimous! I have not had a chance to finish off the last thing I had to do(should be done tonight). Looks like me and Will have to get together this week to sort through the tracks for Kevin. ODM was on the radio today and was pretty funny. He co-hosts a talk radio show on am 660 KSKY. The show is called "Innovation at work"...Wierd. Now ODM is a Blogger and a Innovation expert!! Nice. More progress tommorow as I will be working on the rest of the artwork for the cd...

Goodmorning

Hello, I ended up falling asleep at the studio again. (It happens often,the couches here are really comfortable.) Looks like I got ODM(Old Dirty Major) well on his way to being a blogger, despite his distain for technology. We were here at the studio last night talking about our next steps and reviwing the vocal work I have completed. I also got a thumbs up on the album art! I think ODM was expecting to have to be very critical of the album art I came up with, but instead it struck him as exactly what he was looking for!! sweeet. ODM posted it last night in his post. I have since added it as the main pic on here. The next step for us is to go through the year and a half's worth of recordings and determine what needs to stay and what takes can go on the editing floor (if you will) Kevin "Jones" Kotzur will be mixing and co-producing the album. I'm hoping to have it mastered by Bill Stevenson or Jason Livermore, We still have time before that step.

"What The Fuck Is a Blog?......."

So... here we are... on the "internet"... apparently everyday. we'll see how well i keep up with this. I'm the Old "Dirty" Major. i should start by saying i don't spend alot of time in "cyber space", or with technology in general, so any questions, comments or concerns regarding my postings are probably pointless.
well, now that we've become familiar with one another, let me get to the point. this is a blog, (it sounds very punk rock if you extend the vowel) which, i am told, is a guy writing about crap no one wants to hear about on a platform so large no one could find it if they wanted to. so, mom and ba, ("ba" means 'dad' in vietnamese, which is what i call my (step)-dad, on account of he's vietnamese... {southern, for those of you with left-over "hostile" war sentiment... save it for "Part II: Bush's Crusade"}-), and my brother Jason,... thanks for logging on.
so in case i haven't told you already, we're supposedly releasing our first full length album sometime this century. it is going to be called "The Power to Consume Ourselves", and upon detailed inspection, i feel it's appropriate to announce that we may or may not be rapidly approaching what may or not be the final draft of what may or may not be the cover art for said album. i'm sure you're as excited as i am. it would be hard not to. (i wanted to end that last sentence with the word "be", because it sounded better in my head, but i wasn't sure if it was a preposition or not. perhaps because of my poor, public school education)
on the other hand, we actually are wrapping up the butt end of the recording process as we speak... (i hope this isn't actually considered speaking), and are plunging fearlessly into the mixing phase... which, for all intents and purposes, we will call "Phase II"... [this, (fortunately, and 'un'...,) is almost entirely dependent on Kevin "Jones"; the mastermind and superwicked bad-ass behind the board]
I'll be sure to let you know how "Phase II" unfolds..... until then, i'll be trying to find some time to sleep. "No rest for the Wicked", eh? (hopefully that's step 3)

An Old Diry Major and a To-do list

HI all, Super _wicked Sweet news... Mr. Enger WILL be Blogging on here on a daily basis. That means that it's quite possible to see two or more posts daily!!!. I also did a little research today and found some good ways to get some exposure for the Blog. So If you are a friend or family memeber, welcome!!!!!
Today I figured I would make a small List of things that we have to do now that the recording is done. There is a lot of work ahead, But Im really Excited!!

Now all of these things require lots of man hours to get completed
I am hoping by blogging about it everyday that It will force us to keep on a timely schedule.

"The Power To Consume Ourselves"

Hello World!!
This Blog will document the release of Samuel Caldwell's Revenge "The Power to Consume Ourselves" I will be posting from time to time about the events taking place while we attempt to release an album,independent of a label. Many,many bands have done this, so I'm sure you asking yourself "Why would I want to read a blog about that" Well,I don't have a good answer for that. I have seen many many blogs on much more boring subjects and have found them to be of interest. This blog will be updated daily until we release the record(or we get bored of it) Some posts will be small and some may be larger.
Also I have never blogged before so I will be making a lot of mistakes, and using bad grammar.Feel free to point it out. So now that we have that out of the way. I'm Shaun, the lead singer and co-creator of the band. Old Dirty Major(bass) is the other Co-creator. ODM should be posting on here as well. I will go into detail about the rest of the band in future Posts....

The Album:
We began recording the album on 03-06-06. I realize that was more than a year ago. This last year and 4 months have been spent recording and re-recoding. Our Blessing is our curse. Two of us in the band own and Operate a small recording studio (Dang!Studios) in a small city in Texas called lewisville. We have not been limited to the financial detriment of being in the studio for extended amount of time. I'm not sure if this will have a positive or negative effect on the final outcome of the album, but I think the main reason that it took so long was that we are lazy, but I also think there was a need for there to be no filler and put out a debut record that would be amazing from start to finish. Only hindsight will tell us if we were able to succeed.
The Recording will be done this week! It has been on me for the last couple of months to finish up the vocals and backups and some of the tasty tidbits and sprinkles of the record. My goal was to this week get it all wrapped up so we could begin the Mixing process. As of today , I have finished all the backups, and a little intro for one of the songs. I am really pumped as I only have 1 more thing to do then it can be taken to the next process...MIXING!!!!
I also spent some time today working with some ideas for the cover. I may post it soon, but I want to get some feedback from the rest of the band first. Well. I hope you drop by from time to time to check out the progress...
